Silvester Thompson asked: You probably know that by recycling you can save landfill space. But did you know that recycling also can produce a profit for your company? Follow these recycling tips and your workplace will be ready to save the world.
* Create a recycling program. Almost all types of office papers are recyclable. So is most plastic, aluminum and cardboard. If your office doesn’t already have a recycling program, contact your local recycling company to see how to start one.
* Use recycled products. If you recycle but don’t buy recycled products, you’re defeating the purpose, in a sense, by discouraging manufacturers of recycled products.
* Conserve paper. Find paperless ways to communicate, such as by e-mail. Also, save used paper for scrap, make double-sided copies and only print pages you actually need. By cutting back on paper consumption, your office will save money and natural resources.
* Recycle office equipment. Did you know that computers can be recycled, as well as cell phones, PDAs, pagers, chargers and rechargeable batteries? Many local recycling companies and retailers, including Staples, offer easy ways to recycle your equipment.
* Recycle empty inkjet and toner cartridges. The fewer drafts you print, the more money you’ll save on cartridge replacements. But when that inkjet or toner cartridge is empty, recycle it through mail-back programs or local retailers like Staples.
In fact, Staples offers a Recycle for Education program that gives $1 to local education charities for every empty inkjet or toner cartridge you recycle in their stores.

Rob Carlton asked: Monitoring the currency exchange rate is very important if you’re planning to go on a vacation and would like to stay within your set budget and save money. Let us understand what exactly currency exchange rate means. In general, depending on the US dollar, most of the other currencies are calculated in value and are either more or less than the value of the US dollar. For example, a Canadian dollar would be worth around 85 percent of the US dollar. Similarly, the British Pound is worth two US dollars. However, owing to the fluctuating market conditions, one day the British Pound could be worth two dollars while on the next, it could be worth more than two dollars.
There are two types of currencies - free floating and pegged. A currency that is determined by the government of the country in relation to the another currency is called a pegged currency. Inthe 1980’s, the Hong Kong dollar was fixed with respect to the US dollar. On the other hand, a free-floating currency is permitted to change in value with respect to all other currencies in the foreign exchange market. When referring to currency, people often discuss issues like the real exchange rate and the nominal exchange rate. The actual exchange rate is the rate for which products of a country can be traded for the products and services of another country. The nominal exchange rate on the other hand, is the value at which the currency of a certain country can be traded with that of another.
Practically speaking, currency exchange rates generally change from one country to another and make travel and tourism easier and more attractive. So, if you’re planning on going on a vacation and there are several countries that you plan to visit, it is advisable to keep an eye on the current exchange rates. This could help you save money. For example, New York City is always full of tourists from France, Japan, the UK and Germany at different times of the year. This is only because at certain times the exchange rates favor the Europeans or the Japanese, making it cheaper for them to visit America than at other times. In recent years, the currency exchange rate is seen to have worked in favor of all the European nations.
Before the Euro came into existence, Austrian currency was the Schilling, Germany the Deutsche Mark, Italian Lira, Switzerland had the Swiss Franc and France the Franc. In the early 80’s the currency exchange rate was two and a half Schillings for a dollar while five French Francs made one US dollar. On the other hand, the Deutsche Mark fluctuated anywhere from 1.7 Marks to 2.5 Marks to the dollar. So, when the US dollar was at 2.5 Marks, the Americans would trade in their dollars for German Marks to stay ahead.
Watching out for the fall or rise in exchange rates is always beneficial for tourists who would like to travel and at the same time save money. Even if you are only thinking of hopping across the border to visit family or are planning on flying to Mexico or Canada, knowing and understanding the nominal exchange value of another country is very important. So, remember to plan your vacation at a time when the fluctuation in exchange rates is most likely to help you.

Smith James asked:
As per necessity, home insurances are of three types. The first one is those that are taken to insure the physical structure of the home. This type of insurance is taken by all the homeowners who do not live in their home. They are concerned with the building of the home; they have nothing to do with the contents inside it. So, they prefer to insure the building only.
Then there are the purchasers who buy home insurance policy only to insure the contents of the home. They are tenants and do not own the home. For them any loss to the home does not matter; they are primarily concerned with the safety of the assets in the home. They look for home insurance policy that cover what is there inside the home, not the building. This is generally taken by tenants.
The third type of home insurance policy is the one that cover both the home as well as its contents. This type of policies is taken by those who own a home and live in it as well. For them both the home and its contents matter equally. Any loss to the building and the assets inside is the same to them. So, they purchase policies that insure the physical structure of the home and its contents as well. Insurance market has unlimited deals on all these types of home insurances.
In addition to all these types of deals on home insurance policy, there are some other customised deals for people living in certain areas. Those who have their homes in damage prone areas like the coastal regions may have to pay more for a policy than that of the persons in other areas. In the same fashion, homes in the places where act of theft occurs very often may have to pay more for a home insurance than others.

Brooke Hayles asked:
California health insurance is very important the mental and physical well being of every California resident. California health insurance allows families to obtain the health care that they need to stay healthy.
Health insurance companies in California provide reimbursement to health care providers for services rendered to California residents.
Although the majority of California residences have health insurance, there is still about twenty percent that do not have any type of insurance.
For those California residences that want to obtain health insurance there are many things you need to know to make an informed decision the biggest being what the plan covers. Choosing the correct insurance is critical to your family’s overall health.
The biggest factor in purchasing a health insurance in California, is your budget. Insurance companies have different plans to fit any budget. These plans take into consideration your lifestyle habits. An insurance company will charge higher rates if there is a smoker on the plan.
Age, marital status, family size and health conditions also play a big part in the cost of your insurance plan. Usually the best type of group insurance plans is offered by employers.
They work out the pricing with the insurance companies to give the best rates to their employees. However if the business is small, they may not be able to offer any insurance at all.
The Various California Health Insurance Options
There are basically five different types of health insurance that are available to California residents. An indemnity policy is one of the conventional policies.
This type of policy offers fee for services render. The advantage of this type of policy is that the plan is flexible and you can choose any doctor. The disadvantage to this type of plan is that they are becoming very hard to find because of inflated prices.
Health Maintenance Organizations also know as a HMOs or Managed Care, provides medical covered by specific health care professionals that are within their network.
The advantage to this type of policy is that there are no claim forms and the out of pocket expenses are usually very low.
The disadvantage to these policies is that you may have to change health care providers or incur higher charges if your current provider is not within the network. There are also limitations on the services that can be provided under this plan.
The third type of plan offer by California health insurance is a preferred provider organization or a PPO. This plan is comparable to the HMO; the only difference is that you can go out of network without paying extra charges.
This is a major advantage to this plan. The disadvantage would be that the insured incurs more out of pocket expenses and the costs vary.
Insurance plans for the self employed and single employers usually entail the company covering all of the health care benefits. The funds usually come from a pool of money that is created. The advantage is that a third party usually deals with all of the processing of claims and payments.
A Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangements or MEWA is a policy where the insurance company allows the employees to start fund to cover anything that the insurance does not.
The disadvantage to this policy is that there are strict guidelines. Therefore, there are less then ten, that are part of the California health insurance plans.
There are times when a person is denied health insurance because of a pre-existing health condition. There are a few states in the US that will offer a risk pool for its residents.
California health insurance offers its residents insurance through the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program.
There are hundreds of not thousands of California health insurance providers. It will take a little research for you to find the one you are most comfortable with.
You can use online resources to research and find the perfect California heath insurance.
Summary:
When you are choosing California health insurance, it will be necessary to decide on which type of plan suites your needs. Take everything into consideration including your family size and budget. California offers many different health insurance options including HMOs and PPOs. Make sure that you understand your policy and do not be afraid to ask as many questions as it takes to understand completely what you are paying for.

√ξяǿйٲ¢Д asked:
I recently recieved an information packet in the mail about Junior Statesmen Summer School! It’s a 3-week program designed to help high-school students who are interested in politics to get a head start. I am very excited about this opportunity! However, since almost all of the courses are college-level and I am only in eighth grade right now, I want to wait another year before applying. In the meantime, I need to start saving some money. The total cost for the 3 weeks is $4,150! My family will not be able to afford to contribute very much to that. I will apply for a partial scholarship (I’m guessing about $1000-$2000, but I don’t know how much they will give me), but I will have to raise most of the rest of it by myself. I am already babysitting and mowing lawns. What else can I do that will help me earn money?

Lauren asked:
I’m a senior in high school and I work part time and make about 50 to 100 dollars a week. I also get 500 dollars a month from my dad (weird family situation). And I only pay for my cell phone and lunch money at school which comes out to about 100 dollars a month (both of them combined). But I feel like im addicted to spending money. I go to wal-mart a lot or to other stores. I have plenty of money in my bank account for a girl my age but i know i should be saving more of it then spending. I’m entering college next year so I want to try to break these habits now. How can i get the self control not to shop when i have money but I want to save it for college and eventually a new (well, used) car. Please give me personal experiences, websites, advice, tips, anything!

Jordan FeRoss asked:
You would think you would not have to be concerned about things such as insurance fraud. Unfortunately, you do. In the age that we live in, there is always someone that is out to make a quick buck. Of course, that includes trying to get over on people when it comes to getting health insurance in Texas. The sad part about it is, with the internet, it is so easy to get duped. The internet is one of the biggest tools that scammers and fraudsters use to get what they want illegally.
It’s easy for them to put up a website and set up shop online. Anyone can say that they have a valid heath insurance company online. When looking for health insurance in Texas, this should be taken very seriously. There are too many people that get duped because they believe everything they see and hear.
Here are some different ways to detect fraud when looking to get health insurance in Texas. One trick to look for is what is called a “pyramid” scheme. It works when you sign up to pay a membership fee online in order to get health insurance. The scheme offers people financial perks if they agree to this and invest their money. They also try to encourage you to get more people involved to do the same thing.
This will create more cash in the pot. In addition to that, others are asked to sell memberships to others and pitch the same script. With the so-called “health insurance”, members are also told that they can take money against the value of their insurance policies. Unfortunately, there is nothing to show for it. Health insurance in Texas is a big business and there are people that will try to profit from it any way they can.
Another scheme is when you encounter a website that claims to be selling health insurance in Texas. They entice you by promising low rates on your health insurance. Later on, you find out that it’s not a real insurance company and the health insurance policy is null and void.
There are other scams where people get duped easily. There are people that set up bogus companies only for the “owners” to take the money and run. There are others where an agent advertises online to get business and find out that it’s just another scam.
One of the biggest frauds regarding getting health insurance in Texas is about selling insurance when an agent isn’t authorized to do so. According to state law, the insurance company and the agent must have a valid license to sell health insurance in Texas. If it’s found out that they are not licensed, they cannot legally sell anyone any type of insurance in the state. Not only that, your insurance claims may not be paid and you would be duped out of money that you paid on health insurance premiums. If you suspect fraud or scams while looking to get health insurance, then report it to your local or state fraud agency.

My friend had a fire in her home, during the final days of the sale. The insurance company is trying to prove fraud on her part, which there is none, and she has not paid out since Sept. 28, 2006. She is going for a polygraph test later next month, in the mean time she has no where to live, they have given her $2500 living allowance and refuse to give her more at this time. Any suggestions on what she can or should do?
